چکیده

Continuous change in wrinkle patterns process of thin films to a gradient substrate is the most challenging problem regarding applying reliable and robust numerical methods for postbuckling analysis film/substrate system. For example, finite element method, simulation suffers from convergence issue, while, spectral methods, it very difficult capture localized behavior soft matters when boundary conditions are complex. When film compressed, can form certain amount wavelength compression exceeds critical value. The compressed compliant system translates sinusoidal wrinkles then period-doubling wrinkling after further compression. In this work, we investigate mathematical model arising changing nature postbuckled using efficient algorithm based on method evolve patterns. We consider substrates three typical variations modulus, namely, symmetry, exponential, power-law model. It has been observed that stable equilibrium path two bifurcation points. At first point, buckling instability occurs, while occurs at second point. material gradients various types, amplitude obtained. This study may help better understanding formation which could be useful designing stretchable flexible electronic devices systems avoid resonance noise environment.

A Kinetics Approach to Surface Wrinkling of Elastic Thin Films

Complex wrinkle patterns have been observed in various thin film systems, typically with integrated hard and soft materials for various applications as well as in nature. The underlying mechanism of wrinkling has been generally understood as a stress-driven instability. On an elastic substrate, equilibrium and energetics set the critical condition and select the wrinkle wavelength and amplitude...

Kinetic wrinkling of an elastic film on a viscoelastic substrate

A compressed elastic film on a compliant substrate can form wrinkles. On an elastic substrate, equilibrium and energetics set the critical condition and select the wrinkle wavelength and amplitude. On a viscous substrate, wrinkle grows over time and the kinetics selects the fastest growing wavelength. More generally, on a viscoelastic substrate, both energetics and kinetics play important roles...

Concomitant wrinkling and buckle-delamination of elastic thin films on compliant substrates

Compressing a thin elastic film attached to a thick compliant substrate can lead to buckling instability. Two commonly observed buckling modes, buckle-delamination and wrinkling, have each been analyzed separately in previous studies. Recent experiments have observed that the two modes can co-exist and co-evolve. In this paper, by analytical and finite element methods, we present a study on con...
